Service turn-up and burn-in
BrixNGN utilizes industry-standard test protocols, such as IETF RFC 2544 and ITU.T Y.1564 EtherSAM, to perform service turn-up and verification to remotely deployed service endpoints. Following initial service verification testing and burn-in, a birth certificate is generated and stored for reference.
End-to-end network and service performance visibility
Once a service is turned up, BrixNGN continuously collects, correlates, analyzes and visualizes critical quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) data from the network core to the customer endpoint or cell tower using numerous methods, including industry-standard protocols such as Y.1731 and TWAMP. This enables operators to identify, diagnose and quickly resolve network and service issues before customers are affected—thereby guaranteeing performance and customer satisfaction.
Troubleshooting and problem isolation
By continually monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as service availability, as well as latency, packet loss and jitter, providers can set thresholds and alarms to alert them of potential service degradations and where in the network they are occurring. BrixNGN collects this information from a variety of monitoring sources to isolate problems through network segmentation—significantly improving the mean time to repair (MTTR), reducing trouble tickets and providing more effective and efficient customer care.
Service-level management reporting and visualization
When providers leverage best-effort data delivery systems (such as Ethernet) for their services, real-time SLAs are a requirement. The BrixNGN module feeds the BrixWorx correlation and analysis software engine with performance and quality information to produce the advanced analytics and visualization (real-time dashboards, historical reports and customer portals) needed to manage and continually meet SLAs. Brix reports address the needs of a broad audience from technical to executive levels to provide the business intelligence required for the organization to be successful.
Mobile backhaul service assurance
BrixNGN is also a key component of EXFO’s end-to-end test and service assurance solution for mobile backhaul networks.
